Kansas City has named Shane Mecham its 2014 Volunteer of the Year. DKC is a non-profit organization that enables
under-funded urban schools to field competitive interscholastic debate teams. In 2013, one of its graduates became the first person to ever win both major college debate national championships in the same year. Shane has been a member of the DKC Board of Directors for three years. The past two years he has served as DKC’s Vice-President. Shane has volunteered his time at tournaments and to fundraise for the group.
